The revised Frontier Cartridge Military Grade is an affordable, efficient, and powerful cartridge series. 223 Rem. and 5.56 NATO, with a wide selection of projectiles that will serve for marksmanship, plinking, hunting, and personal defense. I said affordable, but by that, I by no means meant that this is second-rate ammunition.

Made in America and built on tradition – these are the hallmarks of the Frontier® Cartridge. The Frontier® cartridge features Hornady bullets and is available in 223 Rem, 5.56 NATO, 300 Blackout, and 6.5 Grendel. Applications range from plinking, target shooting, and frontier ammo 9mm to police training and self-defense.

Is Hornady’s Frontier Any Good?

Hornady Frontier 5.56 ammunition has a bad reputation that it certainly seems to have earned. Early production quality control was not reasonable for those who didn’t know, and many cartridges were overloaded, leading to Kabooms. Buy Lapua Naturalis Ammunition 223 Remington 50 Grain online.

73254. Frontier 5.56NATO 62gr Spire Point Cartridge – 20/box. Made in the USA and military-grade are the hallmarks of Frontier Cartridge. This line of ammunition offers shooters the best of both worlds. It is configured for a wide range of shooters and applications, from target/match shooting to vermin hunting.

Tried these in a 16\” 1:9 twist AR15. Tightest groups I have found with factory ammo.

  2. Nathaniel (verified owner)

I was able to cut holes with this ammunition at 100 yards out of my Savage .223, excellent ammo.

  3. Nathaniel (verified owner)

Can shoot quarter size groups at 200 yards

  4. Zane (verified owner)

I ordered this while on sale. At close to $17 dollars it was a no brainer. Haven\’t shot it yet but I\’m sure it will run like my other Hornady ammo.

  5. Julian (verified owner)

I shoot this out of my bushmaster predator with 1/2″ accuracy. Great load for varmints, and deer. Dropped a whitetail buck at 217 yards with a neck shot. Try it you’ll love it!

  6. Bryan (verified owner)

I shot a 145 lbs Hog at 120 yards and drop him in his tracks. Upon inspecting the hog the bullet did everything that other viewers had said the round would do.

  7. Daniel (verified owner)

My grandson and I are novice predator hunters. I own a .223 caliber rifle and have used mainly the Hornady .223 55 grain bullet and the results have been solid. No complains and I will continue to use this load.

  8. Aadarsh (verified owner)

This ammo is perfect for taking those groundhogs that my 17 HMR can\’t reach. The round expands great and is devastating to groundhogs.

  9. Dominic (verified owner)

It\’s well made, True trajectory, Groups with in an 1 1/2 group

  10. Charles (verified owner)

I am a Marine and when in the Corps in the early 90’s we qualified for the M-16 rifle out to 500 Meters using ball ammo. I put Hornady’s V-Max .223 to the test using my Bushmaster and M&P-15 Ar’s. They shoot good groups at a point target at 500 Meters and decent kill shots at an area target at 800 Meters. I didn’t have the range where I was shooting to shoot past 800 meters, but I would guess it would work fine out to 1000 Meters. Great Product!!!

Just buy this ammo, nothing better unless you reload yourself. But as for me, this ammo will shoot 1/2 groups at 100, unless you are shooting very large numbers of rounds, and if you figure your time as anything. You don’t need to spend your time reloading. This ammo is so good; I can’t get myself to sit in front of the reloader. I can’t get any better groups with my reloads. Now if you’re just out plinking and shooting hundreds of rounds a day. Naturally this is too expensive. But for serious hunting. This is the best commercial you can buy in my opinion.

  12. David (verified owner)

Super accurate out of my 1/9 twist M&P 15 Sport. Great results on pigs and coyotes.

  13. Zane (verified owner)

I enjoy bench rest shooting with my AR 15. These rounds consistently shoot under 3/4 MOA when I do my part. No other factory round has ever done that for me!

  14. Matthew (verified owner)

I bought this ammo out of a wim.and man with a ruger 223 I shoot dime size groups at 150 yards no problem.absolutely no problems with loading and unloading.unlike cheap ammo.I now shoot all Hornady red tip ammo out of all my rifles.

  15. Zane (verified owner)

This ammunition is very accurate and I would recommend it to anyone.
