    These are very accurate. I use them in a Rock River w/ 24in Bull barrel 1-8 twist. Will always group sub moa.

    No worries about needing a second shot. 130 yards on 1 of the biggest groundhogs I have ever seen. I wasn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t sure if he was hit because he never moved at all. Until the familiar tail wiggle. This is the only round I buy for my Stag Arms AR 1 in 9 twist. Hope this helps..

    Just what you would expect from Hornady products. Shoots sub MOA groups. Havn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t had a chance to try on coyote yet, but it is fast, accurate, and dependable.

    My gun is zero at 100 yards with 55gr bullets so I\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’m not surprised when my groups are low with a 75 grain projectile. Seems I always manage to throw one in an otherwise great group. Out of a 4 groove, 1:8 twist Shilen barrel with matched bolt (also from Midway). Am back at this site to get some more of this stuff!

    Shooting with my new VTR I get exceptional accuracy. This load will turn a Blue Jay into a ring of feathers at 100 yards. I tagged a coyote at 75 yards and she didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t take a step, entrance was about the size of your finger exit was about acorn sized.

    I ordered this while on sale. At close to $17 dollars it was a no brainer.     I have my own built AR-15, Spike lower with fixed stock, 2 stage trigger 3 1/2lbs. pull RRA with a delton upper, 24\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\” SS bull barrel Stag Arms 1/8 Twist and this rifle LOVES Hornady V-Max 55gr. I can put 3 in the same whole and 5 rounds within a dime and/or nikle size at 100yds, and 1\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\” group at 200 yds. 🙂

    I have a Rock River 18″ Predator Pursuit in stainless with a 1/8″ twist. She’s topped off with a Nikon with turret set for 3240ft/sec rounds. When I’m having a really good day, these rounds will just about go through the same hole every time. Took a young man deer hunting with me last year and he made a 225yd head shot his 2nd time ever on the gun. Also had these rounds at the range with a guy next to me shooting hand loaded customs, and I was out shooting him. He asked what I was shooting and looked visibly upset that I was shooting factory loads. Tried other loads a couple years ago and a few were OK, but these Hornadys beat the pants off anything else I’ve tried. I’ve also smacked a couple coyotes with these rounds with “dirt nap” results. With the accuracy these Hornadys have, there’s no good reason for me to even try any other round.

    Purchased in both 40gr and 55gr to compare. The 55gr was far superior in my Ruger M77. After much searching for a load in my reloading efforts, I was able to find one that fairly satisfied me. My reloads are only marginally more consistent and accurate than the Hornadys. This would definitely be my go-to round for predator hunting. I LIKE \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\”EM!!!!!

    This ammo lives up to the high standards you expect from Hornady. Excellent accuracy,, flat shooting, very consistent I took a coyote at 250 yards with no exit wound, the bullet penetrated but expanded and stayed in the animal. He dropped in his tracks!

    I tested 8 different loads of 55 gr 223 through my 1-9 twist, and this Hornady v-max gave the tightest groups. It was just a tenth inch tighter than Nosler Varmageddon and 3/10 inch tighter than the Hornady TAP groups. I ran 20 rounds of each load, with the first 5 shots wasted for adjustment – only included the first five shots in the calculations where no adjustment was necessary. I tested outdoors with 2-15mph winds but mostly waited for no wind before taking shots. Other loads that didn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t fair too well were PRVI (worst), Winchester NATO 2nd worst, Fiocchi 3rd worst, Hornady GMX Lead-Free 4th worst. Barnes VOR-TX Lead-free came right behind the Hornady TAP at 4th best by 3/10 inch and beat Hornady\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’s GMX Lead-Free load by 3/10 inch.

    As a Firearms retailer I get a lot of request for this ammo. My customers feel it performs exactly as and in many cases better than expected. They use it for both varmint and whitetail and hunting. I myself have used it on whitetail and hog and have been well pleased. I highly recommend this and many other Hornady Ammunition. However, remember that all firearms do not shoot different ammo as accurately as others. It is up to the individual and their likes and dislikes that determines their preferences on ammunition.

    I have been using this particular Hornady ammunition for several years now. I have compared it to custom Match Grade factory ammo and meticulously handloaded Match Grade specs ammo. It has ALWAYS produced equal and quite often better results. Shooting this particular round out of a pre-ban Colt SP-1 from a bench, I was astounded at the accuracy. I placed 6 rounds one on top of the other at 150 meters and had thought something had gone awry when I didn’t see any further “splats’n See target I was using. The 1st round impacted the target at dead center right on the cross and each subsequent round (total of 6) impacted the same hole. It wasn\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t until I walked downrange and physically inspected and then measured the target, along with a fellow shooter, that I discovered what had actually taken place.     With the advanced cartridge making done by today’s makers I don’t handload…”I”… that is precision. COAL is everything to your rifle. The jump from throat to lands is very very important to down range ballistics. So I sighted in a new Ruger American chambered in 5.56×45, 1/8″ CHF bbl., with its stock base, walmart rings and a walmart Nikon at 100m. The image depicts Hornadys TAP line of .223 55g VMAX’s. These loads are almost identical except for the crimp cannelure. Hornady doesn’t use a cannelure on the varmint express because chances are it’s going into a bolt gun and not a semi rifle. Either way, I have taken many many many coyotes and shot sub minute groups with this round.

    Great on bigger game too. With the accuracy of these, whitetails at 200+yards are certainly not off limits. However, those are head and neck shots which put them down immediately. I have yet to try for a heart shot, but I am positive it would work equally as well. Accuracy is everything, and these factory loads are awesome on paper and in the field.

It was just a tenth inch tighter than Nosler Varmageddon and 3/10 inch tighter than the Hornady TAP groups. I ran 20 rounds of each load, with the first 5 shots wasted for adjustment – only included the first five shots in the calculations where no adjustment was necessary. I tested outdoors with 2-15mph winds but mostly waited for no wind before taking shots.     I have been using the 55 grain load in my mini 14. Most shots are less than 100 yds in the big woods of New York’s Catskill mountains. Our larger Eastern coyote’s can go to 70 lbs and are no match to this excellent round. Will be using this for many years to come.

    Shot 5 different ammos through this gun, including some cheap F&S, Barnes 69 grain, Barnes 85 grain (came in 2nd), and IMI 77 grain. Once barrel was warmed up, this Hornady Black 75 was tightest, MOA at 100 yards. Some shooter error in there as well, I think it can get even tighter. For the cost, amazing BC and solid SD, this is my new ammo of choice. Now to hunt with it!

    These rounds are consistent and I can get 1/4″ group at 100yds using an AR with good trigger and the AR Stoner fluted stainless 18″ barrel product 794051 .223 Remington (Wylde) also sold by Midway. Also shoot very tight in an older Savage bolt, and another bolt gun I’ve tried it in, and other AR_s. Actually, .223 V-Max shoots about as tight as good hand loads in everything I have seen it used in, especially with free float and good trigger, but can’t say that about every Hornady polymer tipped round in some of the other calibers (like A-Max .308, not found to be as good as the .223). Might also depend on the particular firearm, though, so try some and see what you get.
