  2. Ryker (verified owner)

This ammo shot sub MOA out to 300yds in my savage LPV 1 in 9 twist.

  3. Dylan (verified owner)

Can shoot quarter size groups at 200 yards

  4. Zane (verified owner)

No worries about needing a second shot. 130 yards on 1 of the biggest groundhogs I have ever seen. I wasn’t sure if he was hit because he never moved at all. Until the familiar tail wiggle. This is the only round I buy for my Stag Arms AR 1 in 9 twist. Hope this helps..

I recently purchased a ruger mini 14 in 223. I was expecting groups to fall within the 2 to 3 inch range at a hundred yards. At least that\’s what the forums were telling me. I have used hornady ammo in my hunting guns,my self defense guns and my competition guns and hornady has never let me down. This 223 55gr v-max is no exception. It shoots 3 shot groups that measure just over 3/4 inch center to center at a hundred yards. This is way better than i expected. Blows rats to pieces. I will be using this ammo for all my varmint needs in this rifle as well as keeping protesters off my porch. Go Trump

  6. Mason (verified owner)

This is the gold standard in my opinion for 223 ammo. It is very consistent in my rifle and by other reviews it works great for most people.

Go ahead and knock me for it, but I load my AR-15 with this for home defense. I’ve tested it in calibrated ballistic gelatin (with BB method), outside at 64*F ambient temp, 20% humidity. First round hit right at my POA with irons, at 25 yards. Neck length was 1″, cavity length was 5″ by 2″ wide, found a 24gr core fragment lodged at 7″. Second round also dead-on accurate, with neck length 1 1/4″, cavity length 5 1/4″ long by 1 7/8″ wide, and a 29.3gr fragment lodged at 8″. True, it doesn’t meet the FBI penetration standards. But that kind of damage will stop an attack; if you hit an arm, the muscles and tendons are shredded, the chest, it’s a punctured lung or nicked heart, abdomen, good chance that you hit the abdominal aorta or renal arteries. Plus, it’s not going to penetrate through all your drywall and take out a neighbor.

This is the gold standard in my opinion for 223 ammo. It is very consistent in my rifle and by other reviews it works great for most people.

Great round. Very consistent. Shooting at distance and in pretty stiff wind in SD and it performed well. To be honest, it shot identically to some reloads using the Nosler version of this bullet. My AR is a different rifle with this bullet versus the any of the common FMJ available. As I shoot out my FMJ I’ll be reloading with this bullet from now on. Hornady put together great rounds and produces very consistent performance.
