Why Is There No Winchester Super X Ammo?

The ammunition shortage resulted from a perfect storm that initially formed during the first quarter of 2020 as the effects of a global pandemic took hold. In one fell swoop, the COVID-19 outbreak and its accompanying restrictions brought the booming US economy to a halt.

Very accurate for a factory load in my 223 Remington 700 VTR. Midway USA Has the best prices.

  2. Aadarsh (verified owner)

I have shot these out of 1-7 and 1-8 twist barrels. Both barrels shot 1/2\” at 100 yards. The slight bit of inaccuracy was likely due on my part. As for hunting, I have successfully taken down hogs with this 55gr bullet. One shot and they didn\’t move. I know it\’s not advertised for this, but there isn\’t much this round can\’t do.

Purchased in both 40gr and 55gr to compare. The 55gr was far superior in my Ruger M77. After much searching for a load in my reloading efforts, I was able to find one that fairly satisfied me. My reloads are only marginally more consistent and accurate than the Hornadys. This would definitely be my go-to round for predator hunting. I LIKE “EM!!!!!

  4. Camden (verified owner)

High quality, high performance ammo. Just what you would expect from Hornady. Works great for bustin yotes!

  5. Nathaniel (verified owner)

Shooting with my new VTR I get exceptional accuracy. This load will turn a Blue Jay into a ring of feathers at 100 yards. I tagged a coyote at 75 yards and she didn’t take a step, entrance was about the size of your finger exit was about acorn sized.

These rounds are consistent and I can get 1/4 \” group at 100yds using an AR with good trigger and the AR Stoner fluted stainless 18\” barrel product 794051 .223 Remington (Wylde) also sold by Midway. Also shoot very tight in an older Savage bolt, and another bolt gun I\’ve tried it in, and other AR_s. Actually, .223 V-Max shoots about as tight as good hand loads in everything I have seen it used in, especially with free float and good trigger, but can\’t say that about every Hornady polymer tipped round in some of the other calibers (like A-Max .308, not found to be as good as the .223). Might also depend on the particular firearm, though, so try some and see what you get.

No worries about needing a second shot. 130 yards on 1 of the biggest groundhogs I have ever seen. I wasn’t sure if he was hit because he never moved at all. Until the familiar tail wiggle. This is the only round I buy for my Stag Arms AR 1 in 9 twist. Hope this helps..

  8. Aadarsh (verified owner)

I sighted in my home built AR15 at 100 yards. I recently killed a 50 lb male coyote at 209 yards with 1 shot. This stuff shoots very flat! Also I was amazed to see that there was no exit wound on the coyote, The bullet expanded after penetration shredding the heart and lodged in the far lung. Maximum damage!

i love useind this 55gr its great for hogs and coyotes wouldnt buy any other ammo

I shoot these rounds out a savage axis ll not a expensive gun at all I think I paid somewhere around $400 ish for the rifle. Also it came with a 3×9 bushnell banner dusk till dawn scope. The rifle was bore sighted and after about 2 shots I had it dialed into the bullseye. I was zeroing it at 50 yards roughly then lowered my crosshairs down to the specifications on the back of the box for 100 yards. Again bullseye. I was cutting holes with these rounds repeatedly on just a sand bag rest.

  11. Ryker (verified owner)

Far and away the most accurate round out of my Ruger AR556. I\’ve tried about a dozen different loads and this is a clear winner. Nothing else is even close. I haven\’t hunted with this (& don\’t really varmint hunt so I\’ll likely never get the chance) so I can\’t speak for its performance on game. But consistency and accuracy is sooo good I may try a couple Hornady loads in my deer rifle after using Barnes exclusively the last couple of years.

  12. Bryan (verified owner)

I used to reload years ago but with the quality of ammo hornady makes I quit reloading. I use this ammo for coyote hunting brings them down good . Use it in my bolt action as well as my Ar

  13. John (verified owner)

Shot a 5/8 moa 5 shot group out of my factory s&w. Couldn\’t believe it. Very impressive for a factory load.

  14. Nathaniel (verified owner)

0.5\” group at 100 yards was the smallest group I got using this ammo in a Remington 700 Varmint 26\” fluted barrel with 1:12\” twist. The ammo will shoot 0.75\” groups all day if I do my part. I tried 10 different manufacturer loads until I found this Hornady load and this was the factory load my rifle likes the best.

  15. Max (verified owner)

I think i got 3080 fps out of 18\” barrel. every 5 shot group was .8\” or better out of ar using 6* scope. using 1:7 or 1:8 twist. look forward to field testing.
